Leading from the Word (Professional & Ministry Development)

The best definition of spiritual leadership I’ve read is, “knowing where God wants people to be and taking the initiative to use God’s methods to get them there in reliance on God’s power.” As youth pastors and youth leaders, I believe this is our calling…volunteer or paid (this is not simply for the “professional pastor”…this is for all leaders!).  The problem is we are unclear of where God wants people to be and at the same time lack the vision and strength to move them there. The solution…we need to take seriously leading from the Word. This is where we develop a Christ- centred vision and where we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to move others towards it. My prayer is that this time together will grow a deep passion for making the Word of God absolutely foundational to whatever level of leadership we find ourselves in, and give us a few, clear, principles that will help make this a practical reality.
