About Us

For almost 40 years youth workers in Canada have benefited from the training and resources made available through Youth Specialties. YS has always been sensitive to the challenges of youth ministry in Canada and has been generous in bringing their resources across the border.

For the last 15 years Marv Penner has been a strong Canadian presence representing the voice of Canadian youth workers to Youth Specialties.  In January of 2009, Youth Specialties invited Marv to head up a national office for Youth Specialties Canada for the distinct purpose of serving the needs of Canadian youth workers even more effectively.  Along with his wife, Lois, who carries significant administrative responsibilities, Marv is working hard to make YS resources and training even more readily available and accessible to youth workers across the nation.

In addition to heading up the annual Canadian Youth Workers Convention, Marv and Lois are involved in researching the landscape of youth ministry in Canada, strategizing ways to make training available to the various regions that make up our country, and supporting the incredible men and women who serve young people across Canada.
